Jacquelyn Castellese earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and was completing general education requirements at Schoolcraft College, somewhat unsure of a career path. She decided to transfer to Madonna University to pursue a degree in English/Journalism. “I have always found success with educational writing,” she said. “I thought I might find success writing professionally as well.” During her two years at Madonna, she was exposed to many different writing styles from each discipline, ranging from critically analyzing a range of discourses to writing and editing articles for the Madonna Herald. During her semester working for the Herald, she developed a knack for meeting deadlines and assisting fellow journalists in producing quality work. In addition, Jacquelyn tutored in the Writing Center, helping a variety of students enhance their writing skills and build their confidence as writers.
She also participated in a study abroad program in France, fulfilling a requirement for her program of study. The experience helped her comfortably submerge herself in a foreign culture, and she returned with an eagerness to continue toward her degree with the influence of a recently acquired je ne sais quoi.
Upon graduation, she secured work at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Her future plans include advancing in the company becoming either a publications editor or writing screenplays for Disney movies. “Madonna has fueled my passion for writing and editing, and my English/Journalism degree seamlessly applies to the career I intend to pursue.”
