The BSN pre-licensure and BSN completion programs exemplify the University’s Catholic and Franciscan values and commitment to serving the community. Relationship-centered care and learner-centered community capture the uniqueness of Madonna’s undergraduate nursing programs. We are delighted to announce that our newest undergraduate nursing program, the Accelerated BSN, is launching in Fall 2018. Students will be able to earn a quality Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in as few as 16 months. This program will provide nursing students with the academic foundation and experiential learning required to succeed in today’s complex health care environments.

Enjoy the personal attention offered by our nursing faculty and staff as they guide you through traditional and online classes, hands-on lab experiences, high-fidelity simulation, and actual practice in a variety of health care settings. Our dedicated faculty members are committed to helping you gain the requisite knowledge and competencies to succeed in the role of a professional nurse.

Upon completion of the BSN programs you should be able to demonstrate a commitment to professional nursing that incorporates legal and ethical principles, evidenced-based practice, information management, and life-long role development. Collaboration and cultural humility, coupled with safe, quality care promotes the development of your sense of obligation to improve holistic caring. You also should be able to utilize the principles of dynamics of systems and social justice to provide complex, innovative care.

Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing, Madonna’s undergraduate nursing programs are highly regarded by healthcare professionals.

 BSN Traditional Pre-Licensure Program

The traditional BSN program is offered to eligible students without an RN license. Traditional Madonna University students who begin their education at Madonna University, transfer students from other academic institutions, and high school graduates are able to embark on this educational path.

Graduates of the Madonna University program are prepared to apply for licensure as a registered nurse and take the national licensing examination:

More information regarding the BSN program can be found here.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (ABSN)

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered to eligible students without an RN license. This online-based program utilizes online coursework and onsite skills and simulation labs for a more accessible educational experience. ABSN Madonna University students will need to complete prerequisites before beginning the accelerated nursing program.

Graduates of the Madonna University ABSN program are prepared to take the national licensing examination: the NCLEX-RN.

More information regarding the accelerated nursing program can be found on the ABSN site.

Advanced standing in the nursing program is offered to LPN’s with prior nursing education and experience.

The curriculum for this degree is the same as for generic students with opportunities for credit by examination for previously acquired knowledge and skills. LPN applicants have the option of taking a standardized National League for Nursing (NLN) exam prior to the first nursing courses.

By achieving an acceptable score, you will earn three credits by exam (one for NUR 2830 and two for NUR 3480) at the current credit-by-exam rate, which is considerably less than the regular fee for nursing credits. In addition, earning credit by this mechanism will also provide an exemption from participating in the agency portion of NUR 3480.

More information regarding the LPN-BSN program can be found here.

 RN-BSN Degree Completion Program

The RN-to-BSN degree completion program is 100% online and provides an opportunity for Registered Nurses (RNs) with an associate or diploma degree to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

The BSN degree can be used as the gateway to higher professional and educational goals, as it prepares you for leadership roles across the continuum of care and for advanced study in nursing and related fields.

 Simulation Lab

Madonna University’s College of Nursing and Health is honored to have a cutting-edge Nursing Simulation Lab that includes four mock hospital rooms, a home health community room, and a ten bed skills lab area. The Nursing Simulation Lab utilizes this environment in a way to give nursing students the opportunity to deliver patient care in a simulated workspace, improve patient care skills, and techniques to better compose them for actual patient care experiences. Students gain important knowledge and skill sets in an atmosphere that is both genuine and safe while growing accustomed with procedures and equipment. In the Skills Lab, Nursing students validate aptitude by delivering superior and secure nursing care. In the Nursing Simulation Lab, students continue to develop into their roles of nurses through teamwork and cooperation with the help from our highly trained faculty and staff and our simulated patients.
